Peripheral Cannulation and Venepuncture for Registered Nurses and ODP’s Course Date: 5 September 2017, 08:30 - 12:30 Course Leader: Sally Tilsley Duration of Course: 4 hours Location: John Turner Education Centre, Warwick Hospital Price: £95.00 per Delegate Who should attend Doctors, Registered Nurses and Assistant Practitioners Course Objectives By the end of the session the candidate will be able to; Understand the reasons for Cannulation and Venepuncture Understand the complications of peripheral Cannulation and Venepuncture Competently perform peripheral Cannulation and Venepuncture on a manikin in the Clinical Skills Lab Course Programme The session covers; • Legal and Ethical Issues • Anatomy and Physiology of the arm • Vein Selection • The peripheral Cannulation and Venepuncture procedure • Complications. • Care and Maintenance of peripheral cannula • Documentation • Theory is followed by practical session where candidates have the opportunity to practice the skills using manikins. Once competent on the manikin the candidate is then required to undergo a period of supervised practice in the Clinical Area • Once competence is achieved and the final assessment completed, the candidates will then be able to perform Cannulation and Venepuncture unsupervised.
