Fundamentals of Immunisation Course Date: 11 February 2014, 09:15 - 16:00, 18 February 2014, 09:15 - 16:00 & 20 February 2014, 09:15 - 13:00 Duration of Course: 2 days (CPD hours: 12.50) Location: Medical Education Centre, Warwick Hospital Price: £220.00 per Delegate Who should attend This training is 2 days for Primary Care nurses new to Immunisation, both days must be attended. Course Objectives This training meets the Health Protection Agency minimum standards for immunisation training. All nurses attending will gain a basic understanding of immunisation and how to deliver the UK routine immunisation and targeted schedules. It does not cover travel health. Course Overview The course follows the core curriculum set by the Health Protection Agency and includes: Aims of immunisation, national vaccine policy and schedule The immune system and how vaccines work Vaccine preventable diseases Different types of vaccine and their composition Current issues and controversies Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines Legal issues in Immunisation Storage and handling of vaccines Correct administration of vaccines Anaphylaxis and adverse reactions Documentation and record keeping and reporting Strategies for improving immunisation uptake Additional Information Lunch & refreshments will be provided on both days.
