Course Objectives & Programme Examine the concept of expected death versus unexpected death Explore the communication and documentation which must support an expected death Define and differentiate between verification and certification of death Examine the NMC Code of Conduct and scope of practice guidelines in relation to verification of death Identify which patients do not meet the criteria for suitability in the extended role To perform and confirm the accepted signs of clinical death To ensure the death of the patient is dealt with in a sensitive and caring manner and in accordance with the law Course Deliverables This course requires a completion of a competence assessment.
